The real goal you should focus on in 2020

In this 3 part series, I want to share with you my thoughts in 2019

 

I can’t really believe it, but 2019 is almost coming towards an end. If you are like me, you maybe started off with a lot of resolutions that sounded nice, but weren’t specific and realistic enough. Loose some weight-, Quit smoking-, eat healthier. Always the same kind of stuff people want to change. But was it really the most important thing you should have changed this year?
Of course, by stopping consuming cigarettes, you will lower the risk of all types of cancer and pulmonary diseases.
By losing significant amount of weight, you will do your heart and bones a favour. Same thing with healthier food. If you suddenly decide to drastically change your daily eating habits, your blood cells and skin will thank you for that.

But why aren’t we more often think about our brain? Our mental health and happiness?

I made the plan that I focused a lot more on my mental awareness this year.

2018 ended with a total mess for me. I was heading towards my semester abroad in Dublin (check out my blog posts about it ) but a couple of days prior to departure, a huge damage caused by water, destroyed half of my apartment. Besides of that, I had several fights and arguments with people that already got on my nerves. Toxic people i had to get rid of, but I was too afraid what the outcome might be…

I came to the conclusion, that my healthy mind and peace was worth more than anything else. It is more worth than friends, family and work.

Always remember: What are you going to do if you lose your mind? Yeah, right. Nothing. Your friends can’t help you. You can’t work if you don’t feel mentally stable enough.

Because with the help of god and many books and articles, I succeeded in getting clarity for my body and soul. I got rid of toxic people this year. I have planned concrete goals ready for excecution. Besides of that I implemented new healthy habits, like journaling, reading one book a month and trying new fruits with every third grocery shopping.
It doesn’t have to be difficult to start a new chapter in your life. You only have to be willing to put in the effort and dedication.
I guarantee you, if you start focusing more on yourself- everything else will come by itself.
